NAVs slumped as markets snaps 5-day of winning streak

The markets drooped in previous trading session weighed down by Large cap index and weak global market. After five days of winning streak, the funds finally succumb to selling pressure. All the equity funds ended with negative returns registering only few gainers. The advance: decline ratio recorded for Large cap, Small & Midcap, Equity Diversified, ELSS and Balanced funds were 0:79, 3: 46, 4: 93, 2: 45, and 2: 20 respectively.

The sector funds too couldn't hold on to gaining momentum and ended in red. Except for Banking & Finance funds, all the others closed on negative terrain.

The Benchmark Nifty closed below the 5350 level, falling 26.5 points to 5,335.15. On the other hand, the Sensex dropped 85.11 points, to close at 17,622.20.

In the debt market, Long term debt funds ended mixed with the advance: decline ratio recorded for Gilt Long term was 10: 32 while 50: 16 for Debt Short term. Meanwhile funds in Short term category continue to excel with all the funds ending in a green zone.
