Equity diversified NAVs ended with positive returns; their advance:decline ratio stood at 185:45. The benchmark Nifty closed the session on a flat note with positive bias. The index closed positive on the back of heavyweights like Infosys, SAIL, ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries and SBI along with telecom stocks. However, selling remained in infrastructure stocks along with ONGC, TCS, Wipro, M&M, ITC, Sterlite Industries, BPCL, Maruti and HDFC Bank. The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 17519.26, up 29.18 points and the Nifty rose 14 points to settle at 5245.90. On the sectoral front, banking, pharma and technology funds advanced while FMCG funds declined. The long and short term debt funds also ended higher; their advance:decline ratio stood at 70:0 and 101:0, respectively.
