NAVs end with positive returns

Equity diversified NAVs ended higher with advance:decline ratio of 220:3. The benchmark Nifty closed on a flat note after showing smart recovery from day's low. Capital goods and telecom stocks along with ONGC, SBI, ICICI Bank, Infosys, HUL and PNB saw buying interest and helped the Nifty to close positive. However, selling metal and auto stocks along with NTPC, Wipro, TCS, ITC and DLF capped the gains to major extent.

The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 15,935.61, up 19.96 points, after seeing day's high of 16,061.41 and low of 15,651.99. The 50-share NSE Nifty touched an intraday high of 4,799.05 and low of 4,675.40, before ending at 4,760.40, up 3.15 points.

All sectoral funds advanced. Long and short term debt funds also ended higher; their advance:decline ratio stood at 55:14 and 92:5, respectively.
