NAVs ended in green as market closed with marginal gains

Equity funds closed with positive returns as market ended with marginal gains. The broader indices Large cap and Small & mid cap moved a little over 1%. The funds in the respective category advanced registering few losers. This trend was followed in other equity categories also where funds in Equity Diversified, ELSS and Balanced maintained optimistic view ending in green.

On the sectoral front, all the funds ended with positive returns barring Technology which was seen under pressure ahead of Infosys third quarter result. Banking & Finance category was ahead of all the sector with no decline seen in any funds.

The BSE benchmark Sensex was up 10.77 points, to close at 16,175.86 and the NSE benchmark Nifty rose 11.40 points, to end at 4,860.95. It was seen that the Wednesday's trading session was completely in line with the global cues. The experts however caution investors that the road ahead will not be so smooth and expects both GDP growth and earnings to disappoint the market.

Debt funds continued with its same trend where Long term debt funds stumbled while advances were seen in Short term debt category. The advance: decline ratio for Long term, Gilt long term were 29: 37, 25:20 while for Short term, Ultra Short term and Gilt Short term were 53: 10, 65:1 , and 13: 4 respectively.
