NAVs end lower; banking funds decline

Equity diversified NAVs ended lower with advance:decline ratio of 41:141. The benchmark Nifty closed the session on a flat note with a positive bias.

NAVs end lower; banking funds decline
Equity diversified NAVs ended lower with advance:decline ratio of 41:141. The benchmark Nifty closed the session on a flat note with a positive bias. PSU oil & gas, capital goods, telecom and realty companies' shares along with SBI, ICICI Bank, HDFC, HDFC Bank, Maruti, Hero Honda Motors, Cipla and Sterlite Industries were under pressure.


However, consistent buying was seen in FMCG and technology companies' shares along with SAIL, Reliance Industries, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Power, ACC and Reliance Infrastructure.


The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 17,909.46, down 28.70 points and the 50-share Nifty fell 7.40 points to 5,378.75.


On the sectoral front, banking funds declined while FMCG, technology and pharma funds advanced.


Long term debt funds ended mixed with negative bias while short term debt funds advanced; their advance:decline ratio stood at 25:35 and 67:24, respectively.
