NAVs end lower as markets decline

Equity funds closed with negative returns as markets were seen going in a consolidation phase after hitting fresh 5 month highs. Meanwhile all the debt funds continued to delivered decent performance.

Equity funds closed with negative returns as markets were seen going in a consolidation phase after hitting fresh 5 month highs. All the Equity funds including Balanced funds were seen in a negative terrain registering very few gainers.


Among sectoral space, only Pharma & Healthcare funds were seen gaining while all other sector categories declined.


In technical parlance, a consolidation after decent rally is always a healthy sign and signifies the underlying strength of the uptrend. The Sensex closed at 17846.86, down 38.40 points or 0.21% and the Nifty ended at 5412.85 down 8.15 points or 0.15%.


All the debt funds continued to delivered decent performance with Ultra Short Term Debt taking the lead with no losers. The debt market is keenly awaiting for the Q1 GDP data which might impact the performance of debt funds.
