NAVs end higher; banking, FMCG funds advance

Equity diversified NAVs ended higher with advance:decline ratio of 175:66. The benchmark Nifty closed above the psychological 5300 mark.

NAVs end higher; banking, FMCG funds advance
Equity diversified NAVs ended higher with advance:decline ratio of 175:66. The benchmark Nifty closed above the psychological 5300 mark. Positive global cues, and buying in capital goods, banking & financial, realty, cement, telecom, FMCG and select oil & gas helped the Nifty and the Sensex to close at more than two-year highs. However, technology, select metal and power stocks along with Reliance Industries were under pressure.


The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 17,711.35, up 66.59 points or 0.38%. The 50-share NSE Nifty rose 0.39% or 20.85 points to settle at 5302.85.


On the sectoral front, banking and FMCG funds advanced while pharma and technology funds declined.


Long and short term debt funds also closed with positive returns.
