Equity funds ended with negative returns owing to volatile market condition. All the funds across Equity and Balanced categories slumped registering few gainers.

On the sector front, Pharma & Healthcare and FMCG soar while Banking & Finance and Technology categories were down with no gainers.

The market shed more than half of gains earned in Tuesday’s session due to profit booking by investors and weak global trend. The BSE benchmark fell 135.74 points or 0.79%, to close at 17,121. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty ended below the 5200 level, which lost 48.40 points to 5,194.75.

The debt funds continued to show the same trend wherein decline were in Gilt Long term category while others managed to close with positive outlook. Dhawal Dalal, DSP BlackRock is of the opinion that the bond prices are likely to drift lower owing to lack of bidding interest among market participants ahead of the new supply. Funds in Short term category and Long term funds advanced with few declines.
