NAVs decline as markets end lower

Equity funds closed with negative bias as market closed with marginal losses on Wednesday ahead of settlement day for July contract.

Equity funds closed with negative bias as market  closed with marginal losses on Wednesday ahead of settlement day for July contract.  All the funds in Equity and Balanced were seen in red with very few gainers.


In the sector space, Banking funds lost the most while Technology funds ended mixed. The defensive sector Pharma & Healthcare and FMCG funds delivered good performance recording no decline.


Benchmarks erased all yesterday's gains as the market has not been getting any action on government's reforms. Even the stocks exclusion from the F&O segment dented sentiment. The 30-share BSE benchmark went down 72.03 points to close at 16,846.05 after recovery of 110 points from day's low of 16,736.60. The 50-share NSE benchmark fell 18.60 points to 5,109.60.


On the debt front, both Long term and Short term funds closed with positive returns registering very few decline. Among the Gilt Funds, both Long term and Short term Gilt funds closed with negative returns with very few gainers.
