Equity diversified NAVs closed lower today as well with advance:decline ratio of 77:175. The markets ended marginally lower and continued its downtrend for the third consecutive session. Weak global cues weighed on the markets for the second day. The sell-off in shares of private banking and financial (PSU banks recovered in the late trade), power, metal, cement, select auto and oil & gas stocks kept the markets lower for the whole day. However, buying in realty, technology, pharma and PSU banking stocks along with heavyweights Reliance Industries and Bharti Airtel capped the losses to some extent. The 50-share NSE Nifty closed at 4826.15, down 0.42% or 20.55 points and the 30-share BSE Nifty declined 69.91 points or 0.43%, to settle at 16,283.49. On the sectoral front, banking funds declined. Pharma funds ended mixed while FMCG and technology funds closed mixed with positive bias.
