NAVs advance led by positive market rally

Equity funds closed with positive returns as markets delivered excellent performance on expectations of monetary easing by the RBI after a flat industrial output in April. The trading session ended with BSE gaining 194.79 points or 1.17%, to close at 16,862.80 while NSE benchmark moved up 61.80 points or 1.22% to close at 5,115.90.

Equity funds closed with positive returns as markets delivered excellent performance on expectations of further monetary easing by the Reserve Bank of India after a flat industrial output in April.  Except for Small & Mid cap category which witnessed very few declines, all other categories including Balanced funds advanced with not a single loser.


In the sector space, Banking & Finance funds were seen gaining on the hopes of rate cuts by RBI. Technology category was seen on green zone with few declines. In the defensive space, FMCG excelled with no decline while Pharma & Healthcare funds tanked due to selling pressure.


The trading session ended with BSE gaining 194.79 points or 1.17%, to close at 16,862.80 while NSE benchmark moved up 61.80 points or 1.22% to close at 5,115.90.


On the debt front, both Long term and Short term categories took a breather after a significant rally. No decline were seen in any of the category. However Ramanathan K, ING Invst Management said that the debt market could be edgy ahead of the inflation number announcement.
