MF NAVs slip for 2nd straight session as markets end in red

Equity diversified NAVs continued negative trend and ended lower with advance:decline ratio of 22:148 as the markets ended in red with moderate losses.

Equity diversified NAVs continued negative trend and ended lower with advance:decline ratio of 22:148 as the markets ended in red with moderate losses. The Sensex was down 69.75 points or 0.49% at 14186.18, and the Nifty down 18.75 points or 0.45% at 4179.5.

On the sectoral front, auto, banking, FMCG and pharma (slightly mixed) funds declined while technology funds advanced. The BSE FMCG, Bankex, Healthcare and Auto indices ended down 1.7%, 1.1%, 0.4% and 1.2%, respectively. The BSE IT Index closed up 1.7%.

Among the equity diversified funds, the top gainers were Templeton India Growth Fund (G) up 1.47%, ICICI Pru Fusion Fund (G) up 0.53% and HSBC Midcap Equity Fund (G) up 0.53%. The top losers were Quantum Long-Term Equity Fund (G) down 1.17%, SBI Magnum Emerging Businesses Fund (G) down 1.07% and SBI Magnum Comma Fund (G) down 1.02%.

Among the tax saving funds, the top gainers were Reliance Tax Saver (ELSS) Fund (G) up 0.41%, Escorts Tax Plan (G) up 0.37% and Kotak Tax Saver (G) up 0.26%. The top losers were JM Equity Tax Saver Fund - Series I (G) down 0.86%, Sundaram BNP Paribas Tax Saver (OE) (G) down 0.76% and UTI Equity Tax Savings Plan (G) down 0.67%.

Among the sector funds, the top gainers were Franklin Infotech Fund (G) up 1.24%, UTI Software Fund (G) up 1.23% and DSP-ML Technology.Com (G) up 0.92%. The top losers were JM Financial Services Sector Fund (G) down 1.05%, UTI Petro Fund (G) down 0.96% and UTI Banking Sector Fund (G) down 0.88%.

Among the balanced funds, the top gainers were Escorts Balanced Fund (G) up 0.18%, Escorts Opportunities Fund (G) up 0.15% and UTI CRTS 81(G) up 0.02%. The top losers were BOB Balance Fund (G) down 0.85%, JM Balanced Fund (G) down 0.66% and Reliance Regular Savings Fund - Balanced Option down 0.58%.
