Franklin Templeton Investments (India), has announced a dividend of 30% (Rs.3.00 per unit on Face Value of Rs.10) in its open-end equity fund - Franklin India Opportunities Fund (FIOF). The fund invests predominantly in companies and sectors that have the potential to take advantage of the growth opportunities. All investors registered in the Dividend Plan as on September 12, 2007 will receive this dividend. (Pursuant to payment of dividend, the NAV of the fund would fall to the extent of payout). The record date for the dividend is September 12, 2007 and any purchases on or before this date will be eligible for the dividend. There will be a one-day book closure for the growth and dividend plans on September 13, 2007 and will reopen for fresh purchases and redemptions on September 14, 2007. Under the dividend reinvestment plan, the dividend declared will be reinvested at the NAV of September 14, 2007 and unitholders will be allotted additional units for the dividend amount. Franklin India Opportunities Fund was launched in February 2000 as an open-end sector fund that focused on companies taking advantage of the opportunities created by the dramatic growth of the internet and related technologies. With effect from March 10, 2004 the fund has been repositioned to its new form and currently manages about Rs.910 crores of assets for over 139,000 investors. Last dividend declared by the scheme was 30% in November 2006. Over the last one year, Franklin India Opportunities Fund has yielded 30.5% as compared to 31.09% given by its benchmark BSE 200 as on September 5, 2007. For more Mutual Fund News click here
