NTPC, GAIL, Pidilite Ind top buys: HDFC Asset Mgmt

HDFC Asset Management Fund increased its exposure to utilities, oil & gas and information technology space, while slashed its coverage to automotive, engineering & capital goods and media & entertainment sector.

NTPC, GAIL India and Pidilite Industries were the top buys of the fund, while Exide Industries, Rural Electrification and Jagran Prakashan were the top sells.

A study of the HDFC Asset Management Fund's portfolio for the month of February, 2010 showed that in the utilities space, it bought NTPC and sold Reliance Infrastructure. (View - All Bulk Deals by Mutual Funds).

In the oil & gas sector, the fund purchased GAIL India, BPCL and ONGC. But, it sold Reliance Industries, Indraprastha Gas and Petronet LNG.

In information technology space, the fund bought Infosys Technologies, TCS and Wipro. It exited from Infinite Computer Solutions India. (Check out - Which sectors are attracting Fund Managers?).

It sold M&M, Exide Industries and Motherson Sumi Systems in the automotive space. The fund bought Tata Motors and Maruti Suzuki in the space.

In engineering & capital goods space, the fund sold Punj Lloyd, Thermax and AIA Engineering, while it bought L&T in the space.

In media & entertainment space, the fund sold Zee Entertainment and Jagran Prakashan.
