Franklin Templeton Asset Management has decreased its investments in oil & gas, telecommunication and utilities space, while enhanced its exposure in pharmaceuticals, banking & financial services and engineering & capital goods.
NHPC, Idea Cellular and Marico were the top sells, while Cipla, Gujarat State Petronet and Gujarat Pipavav Port were the top buys.
A study of the Franklin Templeton Asset Management portfolio for the month of March 2012 showed that in the oil & gas space, the fund sold Reliance Industries, Gujarat Gas Company, ONGC and exited from Hindustan Petroleum Corp, while it bought Gujarat State Petronet and GAIL India from the same space.
In the telecommunication segment, it sold Idea Cellular and Finolex Cables. However, it bought Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications in the same space.

In the pharmaceuticals pack, the fund bought Cipla, Dr Reddys Labs and Cadila Healthcare, while it sold Ipca Laboratories.
The fund purchased Axis Bank, ICICI Bank and Karur Vysya Bank in the banking & financial services space. However, it sold Tata Investment Corp, Bank of Baroda, Federal Bank and exited from Allahabad Bank. (Check out - Which sectors are attracting Fund Managers?)
