Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund has increased its exposure in the oil & gas, telecommunication and pharmaceuticals sector. However, it decreased its weightage in the cement & construction, information technology and banking & financial services sector.
The study of Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund for the month of January 2013 showed that in the oil & gas segment, the fund bought ONGC, Reliance Industries and BPCL, but it sold Chennai Petroleum Corporation.
In the telecommunication pack, it purchased Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular. (View - All Bulk Deals by Mutual Funds).
The fund introduced Alembic Pharmaceuticals, Wyeth and bought Dr Reddys Laboratories and Cipla in the pharmaceuticals space. But it sold Cadila Healthcare, Lupin and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries in the same space.
In the cement & construction pack it sold Jaiprakash Associates, India Cements, Madras Cements, while bought Sadbhav Engineering, UltraTech Cement and introduced JK Lakshmi Cement.
It sold Infosys, Wipro, KPIT Cummins Infosystems and also exited Redington (India) from information technology sector. However, it purchased TCS and HCL Technologies.(Check out - Which sectors are attracting Fund Managers?)
In the banking & financial services sector, it sold Axis Bank, Allahabad Bank, ING Vysya Bank and exited Manappuram Finance. However, it purchased Federal Bank, SBI and introduced Karur Vysya Bank, Rural Electrification Corporation and Power Finance Corporation.
