DSP BlackRock MF picks banks, media, metals; sells IT
DSP BlackRock Mutual Fund has increased its weightage in banking & financial services, media & entertainment and metals & mining space. However, it decreased its investments in Consumer Non-durables, Information Technology and pharmaceuticals sector.
DSP BlackRock Mutual Fund has increased its weightage in banking & financial services, media & entertainment and metals & mining space. However, it decreased its investments in consumer non-durables, information yechnology and pharmaceuticals sector.
A study of the scheme for the month of January 2012 shows that in the banking & financial services space, the fund bought ICICI Bank, State Bank of India and Canara Bank. It also introduced Reliance Capital and Infrastructure Development Finance Company. However, it sold HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and HDFC.
It purchased Sun TV Network and introduced Hathway Cable in the media & entertainment segment. It sold Dish TV in the same space. (View - All Bulk Deals by Mutual Funds).
In the metals & mining space, the fund bought Sterlite Industries (India), Hindustan Zinc and Monnet Ispat. Also, it introduced Sesa Goa in the same space. But it sold Hindalco Industries, Tata Steel and Jindal Steel & Power.
The fund sold Hindustan Unilever, Jyothy Laboratories and exited Emami from the consumer Non-durables sector. However, it purchased Godrej Industries.
In the information technology space, it sold Infosys, eClerx Services and Wipro, while it purchased CMC and HCL Technologies. It also introduced Financial Technologies and Hexaware Technologies. (Check out - Which sectors are attracting Fund Managers?).
In the pharmaceuticals pack, the fund sold Lupin, Cadila Healthcare and GlaxoSmithKline Pharma. It exited from Torrent Pharmaceuticals, Biocon and Wyeth. However, it bought Cipla, Unichem Laboratories and Strides Arcolab in the same pack. Also it introduced Aurobindo Pharma.
