New wave of liquidity to enter Asia in March: Citigroup
With the ECB poised to release funds again on Feb 28 via long term refinancing operations (LTRO), it is likely that a new wave of liquidity will enter Asia in March which will carry through to April, says Mohammed Apabhai of Citigroup.
Here are experts equity calls for the day on how the markets are expected to trade:
Mohammed Apabhai, Citigroup: With the ECB poised to release funds again on Feb 28 via long term refinancing operations (LTRO), it is likely that a new wave of liquidity will enter Asia in March which will carry through to April. The mispositioning in markets is likely to result in a significant quarter-end squeeze in March and follow through momentum in April. Stick with banks, property, technology, cyclicals and higher beta over defensives.
Nandan Chakraborty, Enam: There are now hopes of further liquidity props from the ECB as well as the US Fed. Overall Q3 results so far have been ahead of our expectations. With re-bidding for 2G now likely, telecom incumbents may benefit and we have accordingly increased the target valuation of Bharti this week.
