A lot of midcap and largecap stocks have outperformed over the last one-month but have still underperformed over a one-year parameter. According to analysts, a lot of interesting trends have developed in the market at these levels. Midcaps are playing some sort of catch up on an valuation arbitrage level and largecaps are seeing some profit booking. There have also been some underperformers which continue to underperform and momentum stocks that continue to break new highs.

Based on these four key parameters or guidelines, analysts said, there have been stocks that have come in to the limelight. These are the stocks, which have underperformed in the Nifty over a year but have outperformed over the last one-month. Auto ancillary seem to be an interesting space. Amtek Auto have outperformed Nifty by about 4.8% over the last one month and underperformed it by about 17% over the year. Bharat Forge is yet another such stock.

In the PSU midcap banking space,  Bank of Baroda , Canara Bank , and Corporation Bank have come into the limelight, analysts said. They have out-performed the Nifty over the last one-month after being laggards for the greater part of the year. Hotel Leela Venture , ITC , ONGC and Sun Pharma are some other stocks that have seen a lot of buying action in the last one month. Stocks where the momentum has continued has been IDFC which have outperformed the Nifty by 97% over the last one year and outperformed by 6% over the last one month. Jindal Steel & Power , Sesa Goa and Sterlite Industries are some other such stocks.

Some outperformers are showing signs of slowing, analysts said. They did outperform Nifty over the last 365 days but over the last one-month have grossly underperformed the Nifty. These shares include Bharti Airtel , ENIL ,  JSW Steel and Zee Entertainment Enterprises .

ACC  is one stock where the underperformance has continued. It had under performed the Nifty by about 54% over a year and about 20% over the last one-month. Colgate PalmoliveAventis Pharma , Cipla and Glaxo Smithkline have underperformed the Nifty over a month and year.

The auto space has stocks like Hero Honda and Tata Motors have underperformed the Nifty over a month and year. These four broad parameters should provide a lot of interest in trading opportunities going forward, analysts added.
