US stock futures fall, signaling more S&P 500 index losses following the biggest weekly retreat of the year, after American employers added fewer jobs than forecast in March.

US economic data:

The latest employment numbers that were released on Friday showed a 120,000 gain in non-farm payrolls, well below the 203,000 expected, the first big disappointment on the jobs front in months. The unemployment rate, however, declined to 8.2%.

Data to watch out:

Ben Bernanke will be speaking at 2012 financial market conference. His speech entitled 'fostering financial stability'.

European markets:

The European markets traded mixed in range-bound trade on Thursday reacting to weak set of macros from US and Europe.

Greece has extended the deadline for bond swaps to April 20. The Greek government claimed that holders of 20.3 billion euros of bonds have agreed to the terms of the deal. Remember, the exchange of these bonds is the second part of a 206 billion euro debt-restructuring plan, which was largely completed last month when holders of bonds under Greek law were forced into a swap.

Asian markets:

Asia was under pressure with major indices down over a percent.  Hong Kong is shut today on account of Easter Monday.

Currency check:

Euro declines to 1.30 to the dollar ahead of a German report tomorrow that may show exports declined in February. Meanwhile, the dollar index is just shy of the 80 mark.

Commodities:

Crude declines with Brent at USD 122 per barrel levels on concern fuel demand may falter after US employers added fewer jobs than forecast.

Gold declined to below USD 1,640 per ounce levels.

Indian market:

The Sensex snapped a three-day winning streak on Wednesday. It fell 111.40 points or 0.63% to close at 17,486.02 after rising 538 points in previous three sessions. The Nifty was down 35.60 points to 5,322.90.

Stocks in news:

HUL signed an agreement to leasehold rights of the land and building in Worli to Piramal Realty for Rs 452.5 crore.

Zee Entertainment board approved buy back at max Rs 140 per share.

Marico board approved issue of preference shares to PE fund at Rs 170 per share, to raise Rs 500 crore.
