After a long hiatus, action seems to be coming back to the smallcap space. 321 of the 470 stocks that make up the BSE Smallcap Index have outperformed the Sensex over the past one month.
After a long hiatus action seems to be coming back to the smallcap space. 321 of the 470 stocks that make up the BSE Smallcap Index have outperformed the Sensex over the past one month.
In fact 136 out of these have sizzled at the bourses with a gain of 20%-70% even when the Sensex gained a mere 8.2%. The BSE Smallcap Index jumped 13.8% and the Midcap Index was up by 14.3% over the past one month.
Sterling Holdiay Resorts was the best performer with a 70% jump between August-September 8 period. SSI was the second-best gainer with a jump of 63.81%. Maxwell Inds , too, was a sizzler with 61.46% gain and recently-listed Nitco Tiles romped home with a 56% rise in the last 30 days.
While 11 of these smallcaps gained over 50%, 17 gained between 30-40%. The stocks that gained between 20-30% remain as high as 32. Interestingly, a host of experts had spoken extensively on their smallcap picks and gave reasons why these picks are attractive in the month of August and September.
Investment analyst Ashish Chugh, Ajit Motwani of Sharekhan, Investment advisor S P Tulsian and equity analyst Sanjay Chhabria spoke to CNBC-TV18 on these stocks during the August-September period.
