Bull of the day: Which stock gained 50% in 3 days?

Compact Disc surged 20% or Rs 8.65 to close at Rs 51.90 on the BSE. It touched an intraday high of Rs 51.90 and an intraday low of Rs 46.25. There were pending buy orders of 117,410 shares, with no sellers available. The total traded volumes were of 370,038 shares. However, the share rose 49.57% in three days.

How far is it from its 52-week high/low?

The company touched its 52-week high of Rs 82.70 and 52-week low of Rs 33.00 on April 5, 2010 and March 29, 2011, respectively. Currently, it is trading -37.24% below its 52-week high and 57.27% above its 52-week low. Its market capitalisation stands at Rs 52.31 crore.

December quarter results:

The company posted good December quarter numbers. Its Q3 revenue was up at Rs 80 crore versus Rs 63 crore, YoY. The company's gross profit was p 33% versus 27% YoY.

The company's trailing 12-month (TTM) EPS was at Rs 56.91 per share. (Dec, 2010). The stock's price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio was 0.91. The latest book value of the company is Rs 103.30 per share. At current value, the price-to-book value of the company was 0.5. The dividend yield of the company was 3.85%.

Why the run up?

According to the chairman Suresh Kumar, in an interview on CNBC-TV18, he said it was a joint decision taken by the promoters and the company's foreign business partners. "We want to make this company as a very closely held company and that's a reason for the delisting."

While the promoter holding is only 24% odd, the company would have had to shell out some cash in order to increase their stake to 76%. He, however, said that they have made provisions for the entire cash amount. "The delisting process can be expedited and we wish to complete this delisting in the next three-four months time," he said. The buyback price will be 30-35% higher than CMP, reports CNBC-TV18.

Compact Disc India Ltd is a public Ltd company incorporated under the Companies Act 1956, on May 7, 1992 and obtained certificate of Commencement of business on May 8, 1992 with the main object to setup a 100% EOU for manufacturing compact discs.

 

The company has been promoted by Suresh Kumar, Rashmee Seengal and Santosh Grover.
