Banks see mkt cap dip in June quarter
Of the 36 banks, both from private and public sector, that are listed on the BSE, only one has managed to increase its marketcap in the three month ending June 2006.
Of the 36 banks that are listed on the BSE, only one has managed to increase its marketcap in the three month ending June 2006. And HDFC Bank enjoys that glory when it increased its marketcap from Rs 24221.38 crore in March 2006 to Rs 24830.24 crore in June 2006, thus registering a 2.51% gain in three months. But the rest have shown a decline in their market caps indicating fall in the prices of shareoutstanding of these banks.
On Wednesday, the BSE Bankex lost 1% at 5,143.08. IOB, Bank of India, Vijaya Bank, PNB, Union Bank, Kotak Mahindra were the notable banks that moved downwards
