With more money flowing into private equity, competition for deals is accelerating, and valuation of target companies is on the rise. Meanwhile, new opportunities are opening up in developing countries, in developed economies with inefficient industries, and in unexploited niches around the world.

Amid today's complex private equity environment, players across the industry-investors, entrepreneurs, and professional intermediaries alike-can benefit from the expertise that Harvard Business School (HBS) brings to the table with the Private Equity and Venture Capital program.

In this intensive three-day Executive Education course, participants hone their skills to meet current challenges and profit from emerging opportunities, while deepening their knowledge of the inner workings of private equity investing. Private Equity and Venture Capital features two highly interactive components that fully engage participants.

In an online venture capital simulation-designed and directed by a longtime general partner in a leading national venture firm-teams compete to build successful portfolios of early-stage companies and to maximize fund value. As the simulation runs, they gather to discuss carefully selected HBS case studies. With prominent academic specialists in private equity investing guiding them, participants are immersed in the experience of dealing with real-world dilemmas that face industry leaders.

Based on both the industry's informational needs and the faculty's expertise, the program annually examines a different set of timely, critical issues. This year's themes are the ongoing dispersion of private equity and venture capital investment to all corners of the globe, and the impact of a firm's size on its operations.
