Sensex, Nifty end flat in February series

The Sensex fell 0.32% and the Nifty 0.15% in February series.

On the sectoral front, the BSE Realty Index was down 5.8%, Oil & Gas index down 3.8% and FMCG index down 2%.

However, Consumer Durables Index was up 5%. IT and Capital Goods indices gained 2.8%. The Bankex rose 2.4%.

Among the frontliners, Bharti, DLF, HUL, Reliance Communications, Reliance Industries, Reliance Infrastructure and Reliance Capital slipped 7-11%.

However, Siemens, L&T, Hero Honda and BPCL went up 6-9%.

In the banking space, OBC, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank rallied 7-10%.

Sugar stocks witnessed selling pressure. Bajaj Hindusthan plunged 25%. Shree Renuka Sugars was down 17% and Balrampur Chini down 11%.
 
Among the broader indices, The Nifty Junior Index rose 0.3%. However, the CNX Midcap Index fell 1.2% and BSE Small Cap Index lost 1.7%.

In the midcap banking space, Indian Bank was down 13% and Bank Of India down 12%. IOB lost 9%.
