Nifty lacklustre; Tata Power, DLF, Wipro top losers

The Indian equities were trading in negative terrain as selling pressure was felt in realty, capital goods, IT, metal and banking stocks. Meanwhile oil & gas stocks were trading with marginal gains. The BSE midcap and smallcap indices were trading flat.

The Sensex was down 46.50 points or 0.26% at 17702.19 while the Nifty was down 16.95 points or 0.31% at 5364.65.
 
The market breadth was negative, about 1218 shares advanced, 1391 shares declined, and 789 shares remained unchanged.

Top gainers on the Sensex were Hero Motocorp at Rs 2,009 up 2%, Coal India at Rs 337.10 up 1.66%, Sun Pharma at Rs 550 up 1.61%, M&M at Rs 701.20 up 1.47% and HDFC Bank at Rs 523 up 1.32%.

Top losers on the Sensex were Tata Power at Rs 107.10 down 3.38%, DLF at Rs 224.10 down 2.86%, Wipro at Rs 437.35 down 2.4%, Cipla at Rs 341.05 down 2.28% and  L&T at Rs 1,324 down 1.95%.

Most active shares on NSE were SBI, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, L&T and Reliance.

Refinery major HPCL was trading at Rs 286.75 down 2.4% from its previous close of Rs 293.80.

Top percentage gainers on the BSE - Honda Siel, Manjeera Const, Milkfood, Jamna Auto and Simplex Realty were up 15-19%.

Top percentage losers on the BSE - Lovable Lingeri, Garden Silk Mill, Gati, Wanbury and India Gelatine were down 7-10%.

Nifty languishing in dull trade at 5370; Hero Moto, CIL up

It was a dull session for the market as Nifty was struggling to find momentum on either side. The Greek vote is out of the way and the focus will now shift back to domestic cues.

The Nifty has been consolidating for past five trading sessions. Analysts are of the view that Nifty is likely to see some profit booking this week. 5330 remains a key support level.

The Sensex was up 9.13 points or 0.05% at 17757.82, and the Nifty was down 3.10 points or 0.06% at 5378.50. About 1207 shares advanced, 1002 shares declined, and 1189 shares remain unchanged.

Realty, capital goods and power stocks were on seller's radar today. The broader market too was consolidating after stellar rally in last 5 weeks.

Stocks like Karuturi Global, Archies and Intrasoft Technologies will remain in focus ahead of Valentine's Day. 

Top gainers on the BSE Midcap: BOC India, Britannia, Shree Global, Mcleod and Motherson Sumi were up 4-5%.

Top losers on the BSE Midcap: Suzlon Energy, Himadri Chem, KSK Energy, Pantaloon Retail and City Union Bank were down 3-7%.

Top gainers on the BSE Smallcap: Honda Siel, Jamna Auto, Minda Industries, Numeric Power and Jindal Worldwid were up 10-17%.

Top losers on the BSE Smallcap: Lovable Lingerie, Garden Silk Mills, Money Matters, C & C Construction and Sundaram-Clayton were down 6-9%.
