At 10:44 hours IST, the Nifty was quiet in trade and was hovering around the 5,100 level. Technology, realty, aluminium and oil marketing companies' shares were helping the markets. Bharti Airtel, Hero Honda, M&M, Power Grid, Siemens, Ranbaxy and Cipla were the other gainers.

However, selling continued in banking, steel, FMCG, cement, select auto and power stocks. BHEL, Cairn, Idea Cellular and Sun Pharma were the other losers.

The Sensex was up 6 points at 17,229 while the Nifty fell just 3 points to 5,111. However, the broader indices were marginally in the green. The market breadth was positive; about 1,614 shares advanced while 1,325 shares declined on the BSE. Nearly 818 shares were unchanged.

In the technology space, HCL Tech, Wipro, TCS and Infosys gained 2-4%. Tech Mahindra rose 0.91%.

In the oil & gas pack, IOC and BPCL went up 1-3%. ONGC and Reliance Industries were marginally in the green.

Metal stocks like Hindalco, Jindal Saw and NALCO gained 0.8-1.9% while Tata Steel, Sterlite Industries and SAIL fell 0.5-1%.

In the realty space, DLF rose 2.72% and Indiabulls Real was up 1.37%. Unitech rose 0.38%.

However, banking stocks like Bank of Baroda, ICICI Bank, Yes Bank, Axis Bank and SBI declined 0.5-1.3%.

In the FMCG pack, Colgate, Dabur India, Nestle, HUL and ITC lost 0.3-0.8%.

In the midcap space, Jet Airways, Gujarat NRE Coke, Kingfisher Airlines, Sobha Developer and Pidilite Industries gained 3-7.5% while KGN Industries, Parsvnath, Mahindra Holiday, Wyeth and Balrampur Chini fell 2.5-5%.

In the smallcap space, SpiceJet, Hind Org Chemical, Shristi Infra, Sanghvi Movers and Ajmera Realty went up 7.8-8.6% while Kaveri Seed, AP Paper Mills, Banco Products, Premier and Garware Offshore slipped 3.5-5%.
