Nifty consolidates; TCS, Infy, DLF, Wipro, Bharti support

The US markets retreated from 12-month highs on weaker-than-expected housing starts. The Dollar Index gained 0.4% and CRB Commodity Index was down 0.5%.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended down 50.7 points at 10,041. The Nasdaq Composite was down 12.8 points at 2,164 and S&P 500 Index down 6.8 points at 1,091.

Commodities:

CRB Commodity Index retreated 0.5% and slipped after six sessions of gains.

London Metals Index, a measure of six, fell 1%, retreats from a two-month high.

Crude oil was down 0.7% at $79.1/bbl. It hit $80 intraday.

Gold prices ended fractionally higher at $1058.6/ounce.

Copper came off 13-month high of $6570 a tonne. It settled at $6420/tonne.

Baltic Dry Index was up 2.4%.

-FIIs net buy USD 258.6 million in cash on October 16
-Total F&O Open Int up by 274 crore to Rs 1,07,065 crore
-FIIs net buy Rs 276 crore in cash on October 20 (prov)
-DIIs net sell Rs 141 crore in cash on October 20 (prov)
-FIIs net sell Rs 172 crore in F&O on October 20

-Nifty down 0.5%, Futures Open Int down 2%
-Total Futures Open Int down by Rs 505 crore
-Total Options Open Int up by Rs 780 crore
-Nifty IVs at 23-27% levels
-Nifty Open Int PCR down from 1.5 to 1.38
-Nifty Oct Futures trading at 10-pt discount versus 1-pt premium
-Nifty Calls add 26.4 lakh shares in Open Int
-Nifty Puts shed 14.8 lakh shares in Open Int
-Nifty 5100 Call adds 13.9 lakh shares in Open Int
-Nifty 5200 Call adds 5.5 lakh shares in Open Int
-Nifty 5300 Call adds 3.8 lakh shares in Open Int
-Nifty 5100 Put sheds 6.5 lakh shares in Open Int
-Nifty 5000 Put sheds 5.2 lakh shares in Open Int
