Mkts end with moderate gains on Muhurat trading day

Markets ended with moderate gains on the auspicious occasion of Muhurat trading, the start of Samvat 2063. The Sensex closed up 27.42 points at 12,736.82. It has touched an intra day high 12,837.28 and and intra day low of 12,714.72.

 

The Nifty was up 6.65 points at 3683.5. It has touched an intra day high 3708.40 and and intra day low of 3662.85

 

About 1795 shares have advanced, 485 shares declined, and 48 shares are unchanged.

 

The BSE Small Cap Index closed at 6,485.09 up 99.05 points.

 

The BSE Midcap Index ended at 5,363.90 up 61.81 points.

 

The BSE Auto index was up 0.33% at 5,332.19. Sundram, Exide Industrie, MRF, MICO and Apollo Tyres surged.

 

The BSE Capital Goods Index was up 0.79% at 8,513.66. Ingersoll Rand, Thermax, ABB, Crompton Greave and HEG gained.

 

The BSE FMCG Index was up 0.88% at 2,026.28. ITC, Britannia and Nestle advanced.

 

The BSE IT Index gained 0.52% at 4,791.96. I-Flex Solution, Mphasis BFL and HCL Info firmed.

 

The BSE Health Care Index advanced 0.48% at 3,649.67. Apollo Hospital, FDC, Biocon and Pfizer was up.

 

The BSE Metal Index moved up 0.68% at 9,045.66. Welspun Guj, Tata Steel, Guj NRE Coke and JSW gained.

 

The BSE Oil and Gas Index closed up 0.27% at 5,908.73. HPCL, BPCL, MRPL, Reliance Natural and Chennai Petro moved up.

 

However, the BSE Bankex was down 0.2% at 6,205.21. Andhra Bank, IOB and Canara Bank down.

 

The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 1589.54 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 5724.34 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 7313.88 crore.

Mkts trading in green: ITC, Tata Steel top gainers

The markets continue to trade in green on the auspicious occasion of Muhurat trading. At 7.01 pm, the Sensex is up 43.43 points or 0.34% at 12752.83, and the Nifty up 10.70 points or 0.29% at 3687.55.

About 1686 shares have advanced, 448 shares declined, and 48 shares are unchanged.

The BSE FMCG and capital goods indices were up 99% and 83% respectively.

ITC at Rs 189.15 (1.72%), Tata Steel at Rs 515.80 (1.57%) and Guj Ambuja Cem at Rs 122.80 (1.11%) are top gainers on the Sensex.

ABB at Rs 3,630.00 (4.19%), HPCL at Rs 307.20 (2.67%) and Tata Steel at Rs 516.30 (1.55%) and top gainers on the Nifty.

Tata Motors, Wipro, Dr Reddys Labs and PNB are the major losers on the indices.

The top percentage gainers on the BSE are Asian CERC Info at Rs 63.90 (20.00%), Cindrella Hotel at Rs 22.40 (19.79%) and MCS at Rs 36.00 (15.76%).

Index heavyweight Reliance was trading at Rs 1,205.85 up 0.32% from its previous close of Rs 1,202.05.

Tech major Infosys was trading at Rs 2,078.00 up 0.79% from its previous close of Rs 2,061.70.

Cigarette major ITC was trading at Rs 189.15 up 1.72% from its previous close of Rs 185.95.

Refinery major HPCL was trading at Rs 306.50 up 2.54% from its previous close of Rs 298.90.

Markets celebrate Diwali: Sensex up 71 points

Markets opened smartly on the auspicious occasion of Muhurat trading, the start of Samvat 2063. At 06:18 pm, the Sensex is up 71 points at 12,781, and the Nifty is up 29 points at 3,707.

Suzlon, ONGC, HPCL, Tata Steel, Satyam, ITC, HDFC, Unitech, Tech Mahindra, GMR Industries, SAIL were among the gainers.

The Sensex has climbed 60% during Samvat 2062; from 7944 to 12709.40 marks.

In the last 10 years, the Sensex has closed higher on nine occasions during Muhurat trading. The only time it closed lower in 1997.

Wall Street ended a record-setting week narrowly mixed Friday. The Dow closed down 9.36 points, or 0.08%, at 12,002.37. The Standard & Poor's 500 index was up 1.64, or 0.12%, at 1,368.60, and the Nasdaq composite index rose 1.36 points, or 0.06%, to 2,342.30.

From Diwali to Diwali

Siemens, Grasim, BHEL, ACC, ABB, Zee Telefilms were the biggest index gainers .

Sensex up 60% and Nifty up 54%

Jet Airways, Rel Energy and HPCL were biggest index underperformers.

BSE Metals, Oil & Gas, Auto and IT indices were up 60%, 56%, 54% and 52% respectively.
