Markets close strong: Cement, power stocks advance
It was a steady session for the markets and it closed in the green on first day of the week. Select banking, power, cement stocks witnessed buying. The Sensex closed at 13,773.59 up 70.26 points or 0.5%.

The BSE Small Cap Index closed at 6,576.38 up 53.35 points or 0.8%.
The BSE Midcap Index ended at 5,685.78 up 31.07 points or 0.55%.
The BSE Bankex was up 0.8% at 7,209.58. Centurion BoP, Kotak Mahindra, Karnataka Bank, SBI, ICICI Bank and Bank of India moved upwards.
The BSE Capital Goods Index was up 0.09% at 8,998.89. Crompton Greaves, Gammon India, Alfa Laval, Aban Offshore closed higher.
The BSE Health Care Index was down 0.2% at 3,735.37. Ipca Labs, Dr Reddys Labs, GlaxoSmithKline, Lupin, Apollo Hospital and Cipla closed higher.
The BSE Oil and Gas Index lost 0.2% to close at 6,168.88. IOC, HPCL, BPCL, Reliance ended in red.
The BSE Auto Index closed at 5,349.27 up 0.2% MRF, Asahi India, Tube Investment, Hind Motors ended in positive terrain
The BSE Metal Index was up 0.6% to close at 9,069.04. Hind Zinc, Jindal Saw, Jindal Steel, Sterlite Ind, Guj NRE Coke closed in green.
The BSE FMCG Index lost 0.2% at 1,997.00. United Spirits, Shaw Wallace, Dabur India, HLL and Nirma closed in red
The BSE IT Index gained 0.3% at 5,170.18. HCL Tech, Wipro, TCS, Satyam advanced.
The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 7960.12 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 29198.03 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 4429.57 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 41587.72 crore.
