Markets @ 11:08 am Mkts rangebound: Banks gain, cap goods & oil slip The markets were witnessing rangebound trade. At 11:08 am, the Sensex was down 7 points at 12,359 and the Nifty down 7 points at 3,571. The market breadth was mixed, about 868 shares have advanced, 853 shares declined, and 66 shares are unchanged. Top gainers were HDFC (1.79%), ICICI Bank (1.41%), ACC (1%), Cipla (0.91%), Oriental Bank (1.91%) and Tata Power (0.99%). On the other hand, Larsen (-1.82%), Maruti Udyog (-1.19%), Reliance Comm (-0.94%), Satyam (-0.80%), Nalco (-2.69%), GAIL (-2.66%) and HPCL (-1.85%) were the losers. The BSE Bankex has continued its gain and it was up 1.30%. However, the BSE Capital Goods and Oil indices were down over 0.50%. Other indices were flat. RIL promoters have acquired 2% stake via creeping acquisition. 10.25 lakh Union Bank shares have changed hands in FII segment at Rs 135 per share. Index heavyweight Hindustan Lever was trading at Rs 259.00 up 0.5% from its previous close of Rs 257.70. Index heavyweight Reliance was trading at Rs 1,164.75 down 0.88% from its previous close of Rs 1,175.05. Tech major Infosys was trading at Rs 1,832.20 down 0.18% from its previous close of Rs 1,835.50. Cigarette major ITC was trading at Rs 184.25 down 0.75% from its previous close of Rs 185.65. Refinery major HPCL was trading at Rs 289.00 down 1.87% from its previous close of Rs 294.50. Markets @ 9:57 am Markets flat in opening trade: Tech, metal, FMCG gain The markets have opened on positive note but became flat ahead of F&O expiry. The buying was seen in technology, metal, FMCG and some capital goods stocks. At 9:57 am, the Sensex was up 38 points at 12,404 and the Nifty up 6 points at 3,586. Reliance, Dr Reddy, Tata Steel, Gujarat Amb Cem, ABB, Hindalco, ONGC, SAIL, Wipro, BPCL, Hero Honda, TCS, HLL, L&T, Rel Energy, Dabur, HDFC Bank and Rel Comm were the gainers. Asian markets were trading mixed; Japan's Nikkei surged 25.82 points or 0.16% at 15,973.69. Emerging markets were trading higher. Wall Street advanced for a third straight session yesterday; the Dow closed up 19.85 points, or 0.17%, at 11,689.24, its second-best close ever. Wipro Infra Engineering has acquired Sweden-based Hydrauto for USD 31 million. Light crude settled up USD 1.95 at USD 62.96 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Market cues:
