The fashion bug is in the air

The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week begins today and there is going to be haute couture and some completely unwearable clothes going to be paraded around, for the benefit of catching a foreign retail/brand merchandiser's eye.

Every year, with the onset of the fashion week, every designer tries his or her level best to showcase something new and different. This year in the quest to do something different, designer Jatin Kochhar is coming out with an entirely new concept. He will be launching his new range based on maternity themes.

Jatin assures his patrons that he had conceived this concept keeping in mind the need of women. The best part about the collection is that, apart from being fashionable, they are also very practical and last but not the least, they are wearable too. The other good thing about the clothes in the collection is that the fabric used in manufacturing them, are very skin-friendly.

A 3D outline is the other USP of the collection and the best part about the design is that you can draw these designs according to your body structure, and can draw these on everything from clothes, vases to handbags.

His collection is full of short dresses, skirts and pants and the above mentioned 3D outline collection is quite prominent in his collection for men. Jatin's maternity collection would soon be available in the markets, and would be affordable because it starts from just Rs 900.

While everyone's geared up for the fashion week, designer Ashish Soni is busy preparing for something else. After showing at the New York fashion week last year, he is preparing to showcase his collection at the Olympus Fashion week in New York, which is starting from September 8. But don't worry; you will get to see his signature white cotton with patchwork, coupled with soft drapes and easy silhouettes, as he will be flashing some of these designs, at the Wills fashion week as well!

And finally, when royalty tries too hard to be contemporary, you get strange names thrown at you like Ranthambore meets Africa and Jungle Lily! Strange but true, that is Raghavendra Rathore's collection for you!

Now royalty may not believe in seasonal changes but it does believe in nature! Thats why designer Raghavendra Rathore's collection has three sections called 'Ranthambore meets Africa', 'Jungle Lily' and 'Festive Splash'! The main muse, of course, is the young indian woman who is equally comfortable in Milan and Mumbai.

So, if you're interested in this classic yet cosmopolitan collection, then you will have to hang around the stalls at the venue of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, as Rathore is not showing his collection on the ramp!

Ofcourse, exclusivity is a royal hallmark and you've got to know how to get your hands on these rich threads. One is ofcourse, put down lots of money and the other way is probably not in everyone's league - become a celebrity who is spotted air-kissing these very designers, wearing the clothes donated to them. Nothing like a freebie - especially an expensive one!
