Travelling will never really go out of style and there are a lot of beautiful places to see. Everyone has their favourites - Switzerland, Vienna, Australia, London. But some are perennial charmers. Some feel the best foreign destination is Italy and it is a beautiful country to spend your holiday, according to the Lonely Planet guide. Here you will be enchanted by the ancient Coliseum, the Sistine Chapel and the Trevi fountains. One can also see one of the Seven Wonders of the World - the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

France should be the second country on your list. The best way to see Paris is on the Hop In-Hop Off tourist buses. Once in the capital, you can't afford not to go to the famous cathedral of Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur Chapel, the Arc De Triomphe and the fashionable Champs Elysees, which has all the best and most expensive brands on display, all along this high street. A visit to Paris would be incomplete without visiting the Eiffel Tower or the Louvre Museum, made famous by the Da Vinci Code.
Tip: Do remember to book a table for yourself and a date at the Jules Verne restaurant, which is right on top of the Eiffel Tower!
If you love sand and sunshine, then Egypt is the country you should visit. This country is famous for its pyramid and the sphinx. In fact, the pyramids of Giza is another one of world's seven wonders and if you want to enjoy the seaside, then visit the city of Alexandria.
Tip: Do visit the souks for some local shopping but wear your bargaining hat.
The other famous beach and cultural destination is Australia, which has beautiful cities like Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra. Out of these - Sydney is the oldest city and here you can sit back and enjoy famous operas or a variety of plays. Brisbane and Canberra are the perfect shopping destinations and other than shopping, one can also enjoy the nightlife and the restaurants of the city.
Tip: Don't miss taking a trip to the Great Australian Outback and also check out the Great Barrier Reef.
But if you think that visiting these places can cost a lot, then you can also head towards cheaper destinations like Singapore and Malayasia. These are not only the cheaper options, but they also have a lot to offer you as a tourist.
But apart from foreign destinations, what are the most sought after Indian destinations? Goa is obviously the most recommended destination. Here you will find almost everything like sun, sand and sea and these will definitely make your vacation a memorable one. The best months to visit the place are from September to February. Here you can also enjoy adventure sports like rock climbing, rappelling, water sports and ofcourse, you can just opt to be a beach bum. For some great shopping, go to the 18 June Street at Panjim. Tip: The famous open air flea market at Anjuna beach is open only on Wednesday.
If you like mountains, then you can head towards the beautiful city of Manali, which is in the midst of beautiful mountains. The valley of Kullu Manali is situated just 250 kms away from Chandigarh. The drive up to Manali is so enchanting, that even after travelling 250 kms you will feel relaxed. Once here you can lay your hands on a range of beautiful and colourful woollens. Other than shopping, you can also enjoy adventure sports.
Tip: Try riding a yak or a little skiing and visit Solang Valley, where a lot of Hindi films were picturised.
The third much sought after Indian destination is the Andamans - as it is one place that is yet to be invaded by a lot of tourists. But apart from its beautiful beaches, it has dense forests and the unending Bay of Bengal that one can stare at. The cellular jail in Port Blair is also worth visiting. The marine museum will give you a lot of information regarding the marine life in and around the islands. The best time to visit the islands is from Feburary to October. Tip: Don't bug the natives!
Kerala is another tourist marvel. Though it has a lot of beaches, the places one must visit are the backwaters. One can go for a cruise through the canals of Alapuzzha and while doing so, you can see the life of the people living in and around the backwaters. At Munnar, you can relax amidst beautiful tea estates. If you want, then take a ayurvedic holiday and enjoy some therapeutic ayurvedic treatments and massages.
Tip: Eat a lot of spicy seafood and hot, puffy appams and dessert made out of cardomom (elaichi) - one of the many local spices.
One just can't afford to miss visiting Rajasthan. The season is perfect to get yourself dabbed in the colours, music and the history of Rajasthan. And once you are in old Jaipur, you understand why it is called the pink city, it is so because the whole city is made up of pink stone. The other place to visit in Jaipur is the Hawa Mahal and when you travel to Amer, then the fort is a must watch. Whereas, in Jaipur at Choki Dhani, you can enjoy a wonderful Rajasthani evening. Other than Jaipur, the other places to visit are Jodhpur, Udaipur and Jaisalmer.
Tip: The other must-see events is the desert festival and the Pushkar mela, which are held in the months of January and February every year.
