Bharti Airtel is once again exploring the option of listing its tower arm Bharti Infratel. The tower company is all set to file for an IPO next month and is looking to raise more than 750 million dollars through the move.
The company has shortlisted 4 banks - StanChart, BofA Merrill, JPMorgan and HSBC for the IPO Bharti Airtel owns 86% in the tower and is seeking a sale of upto 10% stake. The IPO will provide an exit option to private equity firms that had invested USD 1.25 billion in the tower company five years ago. The IPO will be largest since Coal India's USD 3.5 billion in October 2010. Shares of Bharti Airtel were marginally up at Rs 249 a piece in Monday trade.
