Wall Street ends flat; crude price remains steady

The US markets eased off their worst levels to end mostly flat in another thin session lifted by gains in techs. In stock specific action, Apple advances to hit new highs, after topping its 600 billion dollar market cap last Friday.

The US markets eased off their worst levels to end mostly flat in another thin session lifted by gains in techs. In stock specific action, Apple advances to hit new highs, after topping its 600 billion dollar market cap last Friday. Apple has now become the largest company ever surpassing Microsoft's peak market cap of USD 618.9 billion in December 1999.


Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.03% or 3.56 points at 13271.64. Nasdaq Composite was down 0.01% or 0.38 points at 3076.21. Standard & Poor's 500 ended flat at 1418.13.


In the currency space, the euro makes marginal gains versus the dollar amid cautious trading. The dollar index was below the 82.50 mark.


In commodities, crude price steady amid volatile trading ahead of reports on stockpiles and demand in the US.


From the precious metals space, gold prices trade around USD 1620 levels.
