US markets end lower; Brent crude jump to 6-month high
The US markets came off their worst levels but still closed lower as investors took a breather following the recent market rally and amid ongoing debt negotiations in Greece over a fresh austerity package.
The US markets came off their worst levels but still closed lower as investors took a breather following the recent market rally and amid ongoing debt negotiations in Greece over a fresh austerity package.
Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.13% or 17.1 points at 12845.13. Nasdaq Composite was down 0.13% or 3.67 points at 2901.99. Standard & Poor's 500 was down 0.04% or 0.57 points at 1344.33.
In key data to watch out for in US today, consumer credit is expected to come in at 7 billion dollars. Also on earnings front watch out for results of UBS and Coca Cola.
In the currency space, the euro at 1.31 to the dollar as Greece meets again today to discuss austerity measures.
In commodities, Brent crude prices jump to six-month high as cold weather in Europe boosted heating fuel demand and pushed the crude's premium to US oil to the highest since November.
From the precious metals space, gold prices fell on a better US economic outlook.
