Indian ADRs: HDFC Bank, Infosys, MTNL, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, Tata Comm, Wipro, Satyam, Patni and Sterlite slipped.

In US market, stocks sold off in the final hour of trading with the Dow Jones shedding as much as 200 points. The reason, a new $ 540 billion government plan to boost money market funds and some dismal corporate outlooks keeping investors on the edge.

In stock specific earnings action, Apple beat market forecasts but gave a weak outlook. Yahoo meanwhile matched analyst expectations but lowered it's revenue forecast.

The Dow plunged 231.77 points, or 2.50%, to 9,033.66. The S&P 500 index lost 30.35 points, or 3.08%, to 955.05. The Nasdaq composite index declined 73.35 points, or 4.14%, to 1,696.68.
