Hyderabad lawyer seeks damages worth over Rs 1 lakh from Apple over 'faulty iPhone'
The compensation demanded is besides the refund he has asked for the phone
A Hyderabad lawyer has accused Apple of selling him a faulty iPhone and giving him a mental trauma. He has sought a compensation of Rs 1 lakh for the same.
The lawyer, BS Prasad, who is a counsellor for Telangana State Medical and Health Department had bought an iPhone 6 from M/s Aptronix at Himayatnagar on March 24. Soon, the phone got switched off automatically, which he brought to the notice of the seller after which he was referred to the Banjara Hills service centre.
However, the service centre admitted that the piece was defective but could not find the root of the problem. The centre also refused to replace the phone, reported Gadgets Now.
After a few days of to and fro, he was referred to another Apple care centre at Moosarambagh. Meanwhile, frustrated, Prasad served a legal notice to the manufacturer and its associates to either send a new phone or refund Rs 30,700 with 24 percent interest. Besides, he also asked for Rs 1 lakh as compensation for trauma and depriving him of phone facility.The Hyderabad district consumer forum, with whom the case is filed, issued notices to Apple USA, Apple Bengaluru and its Hyderabad agents. Apple’s counsel asked for time to file a reply in the court. The hearing has been adjourned until November 8.
