The Bombay High Court on Monday directed shops that store firecrackers to not do so in residential areas in Maharashtra. According to an Indian Express report, the HC had also asked all the relevant civic bodies in Maharashtra to enforce the directive so as to avoid any accidents.
A division bench headed by Justice V M Kanade passed the directive after hearing a petition that highlighted the lack of safety of such place operating in residential areas without a permit or other regulations.
According to the report, the petition is scheduled for a further hearing on October 25.On Monday, the Supreme Court order that banned the sale of firecrackers in Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR).
