UK Skincare brand Simple, worth an estimated 250 million pounds, is on the block. CNBC-TV18 learns that FMCG players Godrej and Marico have placed their bids for the brand.
CNBC-TV18 also learns that Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) is in talks with a 200 million euro brand and a Netherlands based hair care brand for an acquisition.
While GCPL refused to comment on the news, Marico said that it was an acquisitive company but neither confirmed nor denied making bids for any specific target.
Experts meanwhile say that the deal size for Simple is too big for both the companies as a result of which further aggressive bidding may not take place.
