Budget Impact: Small Businessman

There's not much news for the small businessman. Here are the few proposals that might matter:

Measure: To maintain overall customs and excise duty structure
Impact: It's business as usual

Measure: A strew of measures on the duty front.
-Customs duty on LCD panels cut from 10% to 5%
-5% customs duty on set up boxes
-Cuts customs duty on wind power equipment by 2.5%
-Excise duty on manmade fibre and yarn to be maintained
-To scrap excise on petrol, diesel blended with bio-diesel
-Customs duty on bio-fuel diesel cut to 2.5% vs 7.5%
Impact: If you are in any of these businesses, these measures would impact you.

Measure: Goods and service tax from April 1, 2010
Impact: You can now gear up for a new tax regime

Measure: Advance tax to go for small businessman
Impact: Less of paper work and procedures
