Mkts upswing may resume from Oct '09: AMP Capital
Shane Oliver, Head-Investment Strategy, AMP Capital Investors wasn’t surprised with the recent correction in the market. The economy may recover in the fourth quarter of calended year 2009, while the market may resume its upswing from October 2009, he said.
Q: What about financials, this is a big week for global financial stocks, most of the results is coming in and lead by Meredith Whitney last evening there was rally across global financial stocks. How do you map that segment for the next month or the next one quarter?
A: I think the financials are worth looking at. Most financials in Asia are fundamentally in good shape. Technology stocks are relatively calm in this bear market but as demand picks up, technology stocks will do well. And finally consumer discretionary stocks through the region, I think they are well placed for a pick up in consumer spending which will drive the rebound in Asian shares.
