It was a traumatic week for everybody associated with Kingfisher Airlines, be they the promoters themselves, banks, passengers, employees or shareholders.
The latest developments have raised questions on UB Group-promoted airline’s ability to survive the current crisis which has shown no signs of abating. Bankers are unwilling to lend the cash starved carrier, the Income Tax department has frozen its bank accounts for non-payment of service tax dues, oil marketing companies are insisting on upfront payment for refueling the planes, and employees have deserted the company in droves as they have not been paid since November.
