The 4IR build upon this digitization, with technology being embedded deeply in our society and enterprises. According to experts, 4IR can be described as an adaptation of wide-ranging technologies that enmesh physical and digital worlds. The key technologies driving this shift are Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), 3D printing and so on.
Yet, while the technological shift has been cheered and celebrated across the board, what possibly has not garnered much attention is the impact on the workforce, or rather the interplay between humans and technology. For the 4IR to be a success this interplay needs to work in a seamless manner. The future of work is dependent on this confluence. This is what the current series on CNBC-TV18, brought by Dell & Intel, is showcasing.
This week, we have a very interesting set of technologists deliberating on how the future will enfold. The first one is Vipul Vaghela, Technical Director, BAPS Akshardham Swaminarayan Sanstha, who talks about how technology is being leveraged by one of the world's largest "comprehensive Hindu temple" (as per Guinness Records). Vipul talks about the notion of bringing in spirituality into the digital age and the challenges that were faced. He also delves on how the temple was aided in technological adaption by a good number of volunteers who were actually the devotees of the temple.
The other guest, this week, is Sadasivam Balan, Head - Technology Procurement, Tata Motors. In the episode, Sadasivam talks about the evolution of technology in the manufacturing space, how it is being used for enhancing the productivity of the workforce and the impact it has on them. He also spoke about enabling mobility and ease of accessing information to company employees and its impact.
