Neil Quereshy and Keith Menon quit their jobs in the corporate world and started Mumbai unplug to contribute their bit in spreading awareness about global warming. And 'Batti Bandh' is their first campaign in this direction.But why 'Batti Bandh'?
Neil Quereshy, Founder, Mumbai Batti Bandh said, "Inspired by Sydney, we knew Mumbai also needed to switch off."
So these footsoldiers are on the streets of Mumbai going door-to-door in residential societies and at shops to convince people to take a stand against global warming on December 15 and unplug for one hour between 7:30 and 8:30 in the evening. And their efforts will show, when several prominent locations across Mumbai switch off that hour.
Said Shankar, Chemist, "We will switch off our signboard and some lights"
A city that never sleeps and is always lit up. Mumbai has pledged support and will switch off for one hour. This unique initiative goes to show how small but determined steps can make a big difference.
