Sony's international board has not allowed its Indian subsidiary- Set India- to bid for the ICC media and sponsorship rights. That's for all events between late-2007 to 2015, reports CNBC-TV18.

Sony, which won the ICC rights last time for USD 255 million, says it has not recovered its investment as yet. It adds that the USD 750 million floor price for the next set of rights is not a risk worth taking.

18 ICC tournaments, including two cricket world cups, are part of the lot in question, and today is the last date for filing the tenders.

This development leaves just ESPN-Star and Zee Telefilms in the bidding race. Nimbus is out, as according to its distribution agreement with Star, it can't bid for the rights.
