Salman Khan, who has had a low profile year in bollywood with his last film being the multi-starrer flop, 'Salaam-E-Ishq'. Now, ofcourse, his crossover to Hollywood vehicle - Marigold - is ready to be released. Bollywood's best bad boy is all set to make his international debut with 'Marigold', in which he stars opposite a not-so-known leading lady, Ali Larter. So, how exactly did he manage to grab director Willard Carroll's attention?
Director, Marigold, Willard Carroll told CNBC-TV18, "A lot of it was life imitating art because the movie's about an actress who comes to India and ends up being stranded there, has a small part in a Bollywood film, falls in love with a choreographer, says she can dance but can't. We picked up actress Ali Larter at the airport and two days later, she's in the dance studio learning the final dance routine."
The film is about an ambitious actress Marigold played by Larter who sets off for India to work in an English film but ultimately lands up being cast in a bollywood masala. So, should we be expecting another run of the mill desi babu pardesi mem kind of a story? Actor, Salman Khan says, "It's difficult when you come from this totally different style of hip-hop and you come and do that Indian stuff (dancing), but she (Ali Larter) did well."
It goes without saying ofcourse, that where Salman is involved, style simply follows so whether we will come out looking as a cool race or a little short of that, we'll have to wait and watch. Until then, we'll just have to take his word.
Marigold is scheduled for a worldwide release on August 3.
