Young Scottish singer and songwriting sensation Paulo Nutini struck gold on Sunday by topping the album charts for a third time with his "Sunny Side Up" hit first released in 2009.

His album shot to number one on its debut in June last year. It was back at number one before Christmas and again in the first week of this year.

In the 35 weeks since its debut, the album has spent 20 weeks in the top 10 and has never been out of the top 40.

"It's a great example of an enduring album, which sustains its popularity long after the initial promotion around its release," said Martin Talbot, managing director of the UK's Official Charts Company.

Nutini knocked Florence & The Machine's "Lungs" off the top spot to number three in the chart. Alicia Keys rose six places to number two with "The Element of Freedom".

In the singles chart, US synth-pop act Owl City's "Fireflies" held on to number one for a second week.

A cover of the 1981 hit "Don't Stop Believin'" by the cast of the US high-school drama Glee rose to number two from number three.

The only new entrants to the top 10 singles were Alicia Keys' "Empire State of Mind (Part II)", moving up from 15 to seven, and rapper Jay Z's "Young Forever" at number 10 from 13 in the chart.
