The Oscars of the music industry was a star-studded affair and the musical night was high on glamour and powerful performances. But more than the entertainment quotient, the 55th annual Grammy Awards celebrated the music and the musicians. And, this year was no different. With male artists taking the lead in the nominations, boy band Fun took away the two Grammys for Song of the Year and New Artist of the Year.
While Fun managed to whisk away two of the leading awards, Babel by Mumford and Sons won the Best Album of the Year. And, Gotye and Kimbra took away the best record of the year award at the 55th annual Grammy Awards. The Black Keys won the Best Rock Performance for their song 'Lonely Boys'.
On the other hand, Adele yet again went onto win a Grammy for Best Solo Performance for her song 'Set Fire to The Rain'. Giving her company on the stage was Kelly Clarkson who received Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album.
The singer not just received an award but also paid a tribute to the female icons Patti Page and Carole King with a medley of 'How Much Is That Doggie in the Window' and 'I Feel the Earth Move'. The two icons were honoured with the lifetime achievement award at the Grammy 2013. The tribute was not just restricted to the lifetime achievement awards; Bruno Mars, Sting and Rihanna paid a tribute to legendary singer Bob Marley by performing on some of his popular songs.
It was the stellar performances by Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys, Maroon 5 and Justin Timberlake that kept the momentum of the show running high. Taylor Swift dressed as a circus ring master performed on her Grammy nominated song 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' along with a few artists.
Even Elton John took to the Grammys stage to perform with Ed Sheeran. Dressed in a tuxedo, even singer Justin Timberlake could not stay away from the stage for a long time and later performed on two songs 'Suit and Tie' and 'Push Love Girl' from his upcoming album '20/20 Experience'.
Even India's very own sitar maestro late Pandit Ravi Shankar won Best World Music Award at the Grammys for his album 'Living Room Sessions Part 1'. With some stellar performances and a dash of glamour, Grammy 2013 was indeed a night to remember.
