Classic album covers including Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells and Blur's Parklife alongside adopted pets and the world's oldest scientific society will appear on British postage stamps in 2010.
Pink Floyd will also grace the series of 10 classic album cover stamp series. In February, the Royal Mail will celebrate the 100th birthday of Girl Guides and mark the 350th anniversary of the Royal Society, the world's oldest scientific academy in continuous existence.
"Royal Mail's Special Stamps are famous around the world for their ability to capture the richness and diversity of British heritage and culture," Royal Mail's head of special stamps Julietta Edgar said in a statement on the Royal Mail's website.
Rescued pets from London's Battersea Dogs and Cats Home who have been successfully re-homed will also appear on a series of portraits for stamps in 2010.
Other issues to look forward to in 2010 include: Mammals, the latest in Royal Mail's extraordinary Action for Species series; Britain Alone, which features poignant black and white images of the Home Front during the dark days of 1940; Children's Books, Stage Musicals, and Great British Railways.
